Winter Elk

I'm sort of trying to take it easy this holiday season. I haven't felt too stressed or rushed like I usually do working up to the Christmas break, despite being fairly slow buying gifts this season. With the year that my family has had, I know we need to spend more time together than money on one another. Which is why I've been so lax about making art or blog posts. There were a few things I wanted to get done, my Christmas cards for sure, but I haven't had the energy to really explode out with artwork and Christmas crafts. When I shared my Christmas card last week, I had found a few extras of my cards from 2012. I liked how they went together and lucky for me, my mom has the original painting. So when I went home on the weekend, I asked her if I could borrow it back to scan and offer it as a print in my shop.

I already have an idea for my next year's card to continue with the theme. If I'm truly keen on it, maybe it will even get painted this Christmas break! I do want to take some time for myself this Christmas and really learn to relax and take a breath. It's maybe hard to imagine, but I've learned I'm not really that good at relaxing. Go figure!

While I was scanning some of my old work, mom also had the original of my very first Christmas card. I took that one to scan as well, but I am not sure about adding it as a print. It's not one of my very favourites, but I do like it enough to take a photo and share it. It's so mild out that Aaron and I decided to get back outside and take these photos. Pretty moody for a foggy Christmas Eve!

Have a wonderful holiday season and happy new year!
